Abstract
Theological contextualization has become essential for Christian mission in a world marked by cultural diversity and constant change. This article discusses how culture influences doctrinal formulation and ecclesial practice, emphasizing the need for theology to dialogue with its context without compromising biblical truth. Based on qualitative bibliographic research using authors such as Nicholls, Geertz, Bevans, Bosch, and Hiebert, the study explores the challenges and possibilities of contextualization in the local church. These authors offer complementary perspectives on the interaction between faith and culture: Geertz emphasizes culture as a system of meanings; Bevans asserts that all theology is contextual by nature; Bosch highlights mission as a dynamic movement; Hiebert proposes a dialogue between anthropology and missiology; and Nicholls defends a theology faithful to Scripture and relevant to culture. The study concludes that contextualization is a continuous and indispensable process for the church to live and proclaim the gospel meaningfully, avoiding both ethnocentrism and syncretism.
