This paper analyzes the impacts of "Moralistic Therapeutic Deism" (MTD), a sociological concept coined by Christian Smith, on Brazilian confessional homiletics. It starts from the hypothesis that the pursuit of cultural relevance and adaptation to national religious syncretism have favored a self-help spirituality to the detriment of Christian orthodoxy. Through a bibliographical review, it investigates how Prosperity Theology and the “Preaching in the Media Age" act as vectors for this phenomenon, transforming the pulpit into a therapeutic stage. As a response to the identified theological deterioration, the paper proposes a return to Redemptive-Historical Preaching. Articulating the concepts of Theodrama (Vanhoozer), Biblical Theology (Goldsworthy), and the Fallen Condition Focus (Chapell), it concludes that reinserting the listener into the meta-narrative of Redemption is the necessary antidote to combat the superficiality of modern deism.
