O Pregador: reflexões a partir da vida e obra de Leonard Ravenhill

Abstract

This article reflects on the person of the preacher of the Word, based on the life and work of Leonard Ravenhill. Since the Bible points out indispensable elements for those who have the calling to preach, it is necessary to pay attention to the life and characteristics of such men. This work is dedicated to a bibliographical study of these elements and, in particular, to records about the preacher Leonard Ravenhill. First, a brief history of his life is analyzed, noting examples left for other preachers. Then, two central aspects of his preaching are studied: as a prophet and as an evangelist. Finally, some essential characteristics of a preacher are highlighted according to other theoretical sources and in accordance with the Bible. In the final considerations, the results reached by the article with these studies are examined, as well as practical implications for the life of those called to the ministry of preaching.
